About

“God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.”–Reinhold Niebuhr

While most people have read this quote before, few seem to recognize its importance. I have had many challenges though life but realized early on that it’s not the pace at which I got though them, its the attitude that I have during them that matters.
I have graduated high school at Greene with honors and graduated college with an associates in Criminal Justice from Broome Community College with honors as well. I am currently working on a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice with the hopes of using that degree in the field of Probation, juvenile probation to be more specific. I believe that the youth of today is tomorrows society and that everyone deserves a second chance at improvement. As the quote above states I look forward to having the courage and sharing it with our youth so they can equip themselves  for today’s world and therefore become positive members of society. While I understand that I can not force others to change, I can at least remind them that it’s not a race to the finish line, it’s a stroll that makes others remember you.

For the past few year I have volunteered at Crime Victims Assistance Center. I have been on Broome Community College’s Student Government (2010-2011) where I served as a senator. I have been an active member in the school’s criminal justice club- Criminal Justice Student Association, and I was the president of the club (2010-2011). I am on the deans list and the nationals deans list thought both Phi Theta Kappa and Kappa Beta.

I enjoy the outdoors, anything from hiking to gardening to horse backing riding. In my spare time I enjoy scrap-booking, cooking and even reading.

  1. I love the quote you chose as well as your background. I chose the same background because it represented children blooming to me. Seems like we have a lot in common. I am also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and love gardening and cooking. My daughter loves to horseback ride.
    Your portfolio is easy to read and follow. Good luck with your Criminal Justice degree. It takes a special person to work with juveniles and especially to find the good in them at times.
